Can you get a Handicapped Parking Pass just because you live in Bullitt County? It’s a question I often ask as I drive around town running errands. I live in Bullitt County in KY, just outside of Louisville. It never ceases to amaze me that no matter where you go in this town, the place has a zillion handicapped parking places and all of them are full. There must be more handicapped people per capita in Bullitt County than in any other county around.
About once every three weeks, I have to make a trek into my local Wal-mart. Now there’s a fine shopping experience for ya. But I go for the convenience of getting everything I need in one place and it’s pretty entertaining as well. Just go to www.peopleofwalmart.com and you’ll see what I mean. But before I enter the store, I drive around the parking lot looking for a place to park. If Steve is with me, we will usually park way out in the parking lot (so he doesn’t get any scratches on his car), but if I’m by myself, I’ll drive around to find a place a little closer because of safety concerns. The thing that gets me is that it’s hard to find a regular parking space that’s anywhere close to the store because there are so many handicapped spots and THEY ARE ALL FULL. I do realize that that there are people who actually need a handicapped parking space, however, look around at Wal-mart; most of them don’t. They’re just fat and lazy and don’t want to have to walk. But it’s Wal-mart – the place is huge. You have to park right by the door so you can go in and walk around for two miles? Or they just get one of those little carts you ride on so the real handicapped people can’t use them. Some of them are driving their mom’s car (who, by the way, needs the parking pass because she can’t walk that far), but their mom’s not with them. Guess what, she can’t go to Walmart because once inside she would have to walk for two miles and she can’t even get one of those little carts to ride around on because all the fat, lazy people are using them. I really think there should be tighter restrictions on who gets these passes and on who uses them. I know you’re not supposed to use someone else’s pass, but I’ve never seen anybody get in trouble for it – Have you?
Okay – that’s my rant for the week.
You are spot on, Sister!
